I attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo from 2009 to 2015 where I earned both BS and MS in Computer Science with a minor in Media Arts and Technologies. My emphasis and master’s thesis were in computer graphics.
While at school I interned for Symantec working on automating test cases for their Quality Assurance team.
Next I interned with Sony Pictures Imageworks in the Production Services and Resources department. Through this internship I trained in their pipeline, developed software, and provided production support working on such movies as The Amazing Spiderman 2, The Edge of Tomorrow, and 22 Jump Street.
In the summer of 2014, I worked at Apple. As the Graphics and Games Technology Evangelism Intern I helped support iOS game developers by creating example applications using Apple’s graphics framework, Metal.
After graduating in June of 2015 I started my full time job as a Technical Director at DreamWorks Animation.
My first two movies were Kung Fu Panda 3, and The Boss Baby. On these shows I provided general pipeline validation and technical support.
Next, I worked on the TV special Trolls Holiday. Here I supported the Rough Layout and Final Layout departments.
Currently, I am working as the sole Technical Director for the Crowds Department where we are knee deep into How to Train Your Dragon 3. On this movie I have had to integrate into our pipeline both USD (Universal Scene Description), and our new high performance production rendering architecture that uses Monte Carlo path tracing, MoonRay.
